Type Locality and Naming

Along the Murunkuduk well, South Tamdytau, Central Kyzylkum. P.N. Podkopaev et al., 1966.

Synonym: South Murunkuduk Suite, Южномурункудукская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Massive light gray organogenic limestones. Thickness 250m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies conformably on the Tournaisian limestones

Upper contact

It is overlain with erosion, without visible angular unconformity, by the Belkuduk Fm (Aktau, Muruntau) or conformably increases the section of the Serpukhovian stage (Bukharin et al., 1984).

Regional extent

Central Kyzylkum, South Tamdytau, Aktau Mountains, Muruntau, Aristantau, Sangruntau. Corresponds to the Baymentau Fm.

Fossils

Contains foraminifera - Eostaffella cf. mosquensis Viss., E. constricta Gibba Moel., Parathurammina ex gr. cushmanni Sul., Asteroarchaediscus rugosus (Raus.); brachiopods - Davisiella comoides Sow., Gigantoproductus cf. giganteus Nert., corals.


Age 

On the geological map of Central Kyzylkum, Ya.B. Aysanov et al. (1986) attributed the suite in Tamdytau to the Visean of the Lower Carboniferous; A.K. Bukharin et al. (1990) combined it with the Baymensay Fm into the Myutenbay (165).
